I am a lover of art and life science. I have always been a creative person. My favorite creative outlet is painting. Each of my paintings holds images from my own personal happy place, somewhere where everything is brightly colored and cheerful and where cartoon pictures exist in ordered, dreamy chaos. Here, everything is good.
I have loved art for as long as I can remember. I really enjoy creating art in any medium, but painting is my specialty. I took a single watercolor painting class as a teenager, and I was hooked. Most of my works are rendered in watercolor, and I sometimes incorporate gouache and acrylic paints. My favorite way to paint is by using thick layers of pigment and hardly any water. I also love playing with liquid masking to help create depth. I enjoy creating my paintings one layer at a time until they are rich with colors, textures, and content. I love to paint busy designs with flowers, swirls, and animals. Many of my paintings have brilliant colors that fade into one another. I love to create a two-dimensional, cartoon look by using bold, black outlines.
This collection of my best works includes adorable, Jami-style kitties, birds, and other animals, flowers and trees in bright colors, paintings of hearts adorned with flowers, and some quirky, somewhat odd pieces that clearly show how my works are inspired by the sci-fi, fantasy, and horror genres that I love so much. Every painting here has been executed with a lighthearted, stylized twist. Welcome to my happy place.
